Off-Camber Crawlers
« on: December 17, 2012, 04:18:55 PM »

Founded in Jan 1997, The Off-Camber Crawlers, Inc. (OCC) is a group of professional individuals, mostly from Washington, DC and its surrounding areas, who are interested in off-road driving and enjoying the great outdoors with friends.

We meet once a month at 6:30pm typically on the second Sunday of the month. Check our calendar for the next meeting or trail ride. We meet at Kilroy's in Springfield.

OCC's main goal is to promote and participate in safe, responsible off-highway vehicle (OHV) driving and to participate in and have a positive impact on the community. If there is a member or guest of OCC that needs information or help we are always there to lend a hand or point you in the right direction. Newcomers are always welcome and never made to feel that their questions are insignificant.

OCC's primary activities are safe and prepared OHV driving, trail maintenance, helping each other build our OHV rigs, socializing, camping, and fighting the OHV road closures. OCC is a close-knit group of people who enjoy the company of friends. Members and guests are always encouraged to bring their families to club events. "Wrench-a-thons" to repair or modify your rig, or just learn by helping out others are a great way to get together when you can't make it to the trail. These and other impromptu get togethers are common.

OCC, the Wheeling Club! Get out on the Trail!

OCC is a responsible wheeling club with a great bunch of people who stick together and leave no one behind. We welcome newbies into the fold and there is a helping hand whenever one is needed. Our club truly is a tight group. And we wheel A LOT. Our membership consists of a broad spectrum; from people who think George Washington National Forest (GWNF, stocker trails) is the best thing since sliced bread to the people who think it "ain't fun til its broke and smokin'  ". This year there are many great off-road events scheduled for OCC. Most years there have been at least 2 trail rides per month. These runs can vary from an easy day run drive through the GWNF to weekend trips and organized events, such as Big Dogs, which cater to stockers through the hard-core "trailer queen" trail rig crowd. We even have a few guys with buggies who compete at events like RCROCKS and King of the Hammers (KOH). OCC also joins other nearby associations for trail run events, trail clean-ups and other group activities. If you don't see an event on the dates you are available, join us on our OCC E-mail Forum/List and start a run yourself.

OCC, History and Current Organization.

OCC started on the Internet with an electronic mail list of DC Metro-area off-highway driving enthusiasts. Communications grew to the point that an official membership association was formed. OCC is much more than just some "virtual club," but still uses the Internet to enhance communications to all its members. It is not necessary to have access to electronic mail or the internet to become a member, but it is very highly recommended since all trips and information is relayed via our Yahoo! Groups list.

Today, we are a 100+ member strong active club, a member of Virginia Four Wheel Drive Association (VA4WDA) and are incorporated under the laws of Virginia as a Non-Profit Organization. [Note: OCC membership includes an individual membership in Virginia Four Wheel Drive for each OCC member.]

OCC members are also concerned with social issues surrounding OHV driving in the United States, such as forest and public land access, wilderness proposals and proclamations, legislation limiting vehicle modification, and the poor public image of off-highway drivers caused by an irresponsible minority. OCC is also a member club supporting the efforts of Tread Lightly! who teaches safe and responsible motorized land use, the Blue Ribbon Coalition who fights for public land access, the United Four Wheel Drive Association (UFWDA) which represents the interests of the 4WD community and the SEMA Action Network (SAN) who fights for our rights to own and modify specialty vehicles.

Want to become a Member?

Membership is open to anyone eighteen (18) years or older who wishes to participate, regardless of whether or not their off-highway vehicle is running, or whether you even have a rig right now. We have members who participate only by riding along with friends to help out on the trail. If you or someone you know is interested in obtaining more information about the Off-Camber Crawlers, Inc. Four Wheel Drive Club please feel free to join our mailing list or email the board.

Thanks for taking the time to check us out,
