The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests’ Eastern Divide Ranger District is actively working a wildfire near Brush Mountain Road. The Brush Mountain Fire is located approximately three miles south of the Audie Murphy Monument. The fire is on National Forest System lands and private lands. Residents will see smoke as firefighters work to contain the fire.
The Appalachian National Scenic Trail is closed from Craig Creek Road %3ASR 621%3A to Miller Cove Road %3ASR 620%3A for public safety. We ask the public to avoid the area for your safety and firefighter safety. Firefighters from the US Forest Service and the Virginia Department of Forestry are working to construct control lines.
